I vote for taking off. The straps give it such a nice touch and alot of movement , just great !

I'd go for landing. If the person was taking off, I think the straps would be closer to his heels and more straight as they would be pulling upwards from the point the straps are attached to the boot. Unless the straps are made of thick leather.
Hmmm... I suppose I've been thinking too much again! It is just a sketch! :)
